We've wanted a new fence ever since we moved into the house, but have been putting it off in favor of other things. Well, no more!
I was impressed by the fence crew. They did an excellent job on the fence, even angling the gate to account for the grading by the edge of the house:
One of the reasons we waited to put the fence in was so we could do a deck at the same time. And part of the reason we went ahead with the installation was that our old porch wasn't going to last a lot longer. My apologies to anyone who actually stood on this:
When we first moved in I built some wooden stairs to cover the rusted metal ones.
That was probably a good thing, considering how they look now:
But they're gone now, and a much larger deck is going in! Because of the location of our back stairs, we had to do most of the deck as a free-standing platform separated from the house. It's basically two squares that intersect at the corners: a little one at the back door and a big one that is the main deck area.
More pictures soon, when it's complete.
